I was enthusiastic about writing the project in an effort to add varied seating in my second grade classroom. After careful consideration, I selected the Flex-Space Wobble Chairs and the Flexible Floor Seat. When the boxes arrived in early January, my students were quite excited to open them. To my surprise, the seats were ready to use. Before using the seats, we talked about taking care of these items. Each morning, my students cannot wait to sit in the seats. To maintain fairness, I draw three student names of who will be luckily ones to use the seats. \r\n My students sit in the Wobble Chairs while at their desks or at the large teacher table. They also enjoy using the floor seat while reading or finishing an assignment. I have noticed that when students are using the flexible seating, and moving, they are still connecting with the lesson. \r\n One of the next steps for my students is to learn about the many different habitats as well as the animals and plants which live there. After learning about the habitats, students will be issued a shoebox. They will take the box home, and with their family, research a habitat, and decorate the box so to describe the habitat. Students will bring their habitat projects back to share with their classmates.","fullyFundedDate":1765824581200,"projectUrl":"project/seating-choices-yes/9669023/","projectTitle":"Seating Choices, Yes!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McClaflin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6173980"},{"teacherId":6173980,"projectId":9043727,"letterContent":"My 23 students were elated when the packages arrived this winter! They cheered and asked to open everything at that moment. At my planning time, I opened everything, then at math block, I shared what the games and activities were about. \r\n Several students needed practice with telling time, money, and addition. I divided students into four additional groups so they could practice and play. Other students were especially drawn to the Number Blocks activity. They began building and making numbers. My advanced students asked to practice multiplication and division, so they took the multiplication and division flash cards. \r\n All of my students had fun, improved their social skills through games, and practiced math skills! These activities will served this year's class, and will allow for future classes to learn and grow. The activities are durable and easy to play for all students. It was wonderful to be granted additional activities for my class. Budgets are small, so this contribution really boosted my collection of materials for individual and small group practice. \r\n Thank you again for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1741128769232,"projectUrl":"project/think-smart-think-math/9043727/","projectTitle":"Think Smart, Think Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McClaflin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6173980"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_100779","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":348,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":45.8,"schoolId":100779,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Driswood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Driswood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/jefferson-county-school-district/driswood-elementary-school/100779"}
