Arnone Elementary now have access to warm hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, and hand warmers, available whenever they need them with no questions asked, means more than I can put into words.\r\n\r\nThe Winter Care Corner is set up with shelving and organized storage bins so everything is easy to find and easy for staff to access quickly. When a child arrives at school with cold hands or without a hat, we can take care of them right away, get them settled, and ready to learn. There is something powerful about a child knowing that their school has what they need, and that someone thought of them before they even had to ask. That kind of quiet reassurance matters deeply, especially for our youngest learners.\r\n\r\nFor many of our families, this winter has brought real hardship. Some of our students walk to school or wait at bus stops in freezing temperatures without proper gear. Because of your generosity, that is one less worry for them and for their caregivers. When children feel physically safe and cared for, they are so much more present in the classroom. That is the foundation on which everything else is built, and you helped us lay it. Your generosity meant that our students and their families did not have to face the long weeks away from school, wondering where their next meal would come from.\r\n\r\nWith your support, we were able to set up a small, welcoming food pantry right in our school, complete with organized shelving so families could browse and choose what they needed most. Seeing caregivers walk in, look over the shelves, and pick items that were right for their family was something I won't forget. There was real dignity in that moment. We stocked the shelves with rice, pasta, beans, lentils, canned fruits, pasta sauce, and chicken broth, foods that could stretch into warm, nourishing meals across many days. And tucked in among the staples were baking mixes and candy canes, because the holidays should feel a little sweet for every child, no matter what.\r\n\r\nFor our PreK through 2nd-grade students, food security at home is the foundation on which everything else is built. When families leave for winter break knowing they have enough, children come back to school settled, rested, and ready to learn. That is the gift you gave them. Their excitement was immediate, and the instruments have already become a wonderful part of our weekly music-making.\r\n\r\nThe glockenspiels are helping support our new \"Xylophone Karate\" program, where students earn belts as they build their playing skills. In just the past three weeks, students have learned two new songs—Hot Cross Buns and Merrily We Roll Along—and proudly earned their white and yellow belts. It has been amazing to watch their confidence grow as they practice and perform together.\r\n\r\nOur kindergarten classes have also been making wonderful use of the instruments. Each student has composed their own short song based on the letters of their name using the pentatonic scale, and they've shared their creations with the whole class. The pride and creativity they show when performing their own music is truly special.\r\n\r\nYour donation is already making a meaningful impact. This also gave students an important lesson in respect, dignity, and kindness. When students first saw the materials, they were excited and proud to be part of something so special. They loved helping their community and took their role seriously—making sure that families of different sizes had enough supplies and that every bag included \"fun foods\" to bring extra joy to the holiday.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments was watching students work together to organize, pack, and double-check each bag. They showed empathy, teamwork, and genuine care for others.
