The project that you graciously funded provided essential materials to support differentiated literacy instruction within my classroom. Through this project, I was able to purchase laminating film, differentiated literacy center activities and games, magnetic dry erase boards, zipper pouches, and mini pocket charts. These materials were used to create engaging, hands-on literacy centers tailored to meet the varying instructional needs of my students.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials supported differentiated instruction by allowing me to provide targeted activities based on individual student skill levels. Students were able to work independently and in small groups with materials designed to reinforce specific literacy needs, helping to build confidence, increase participation, and strengthen foundational reading skills across the classroom. Because of your support through DonorsChoose, my students now have access to high-quality math manipulatives that make abstract number concepts visible and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic base-ten blocks have transformed our vertical whiteboard work. Students can physically build numbers, decompose them, and model addition and subtraction strategies right on the board. This hands-on approach allows them to clearly show their thinking step-by-step, making their mathematical reasoning visible not only to me, but to their peers as well. Our math discussions have become richer and more student-centered because learners can physically manipulate tens and ones as they explain their strategies.\r\n\r\nDuring individual and small-group work, the manipulatives provide critical support for developing number sense and strengthening place value understanding. Students who previously relied heavily on counting are now confidently grouping by tens, trading, and justifying their solutions. The magnetic feature also keeps materials organized and accessible, allowing students to focus on problem-solving rather than managing loose pieces.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these tools have increased student confidence. My students love the stools and they are easy to sit on and easy to move if they want to stand rather than sit. They also allow us room for standing table activities as they can push them under the table and still have plenty of room to maneuver for the activity (matching, puzzles, etc.). \r\nStudents have also gotten creative with the cushions and have been putting them in the rockers (as pictured). Students use the rockers for reading or independent activities and the older students find it comfier. The younger ones use them on the rug when reading their books during extra reading time.
