To introduce the robots, we incorporated the activity set into our daily small group language arts lessons.\r\n\r\nStudents first learned how to program the mouse to move forward and backward. I have included pictures of a few students participating in one of our first lessons. During the activity, students rolled a die and counted the dots to determine how many spaces the robot mouse should move forward on the green track. They then pressed the forward button the correct number of times and pressed the green \"go\" button to make the robot mouse move. The mouse landed on a corresponding space, and students selected an object next to that space. They said the name of the object and identified the ending sound they heard in the word. This activity allowed me to incorporate math, phonics, and technology into one simple lesson.\r\n\r\nAs the students became more comfortable programming the mouse to move forward and backward, we began teaching them how to program right and left turns. The Code and Go Robot Mouse has kept our students engaged and highly interested in our small group activities.
