The Reader's Theater scripts, puppets, story dice, mentor texts, and writing materials have given students engaging ways to practice important literacy skills while having fun. As they perform stories, retell events, describe characters, and write their own narratives, they are strengthening their fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence. Most importantly, they are learning that their ideas and voices matter.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts of teaching first grade is watching students light up when they connect with a book. Reading in our classroom is filled with conversation, laughter, creativity, and collaboration. Students gather together to enjoy read-alouds, eagerly act out stories with puppets, and proudly perform Reader's Theater scripts for their classmates. During writing time, they use mentor texts as inspiration and work hard to turn their own experiences and imaginations into stories. The materials you provided have helped make literacy feel exciting, meaningful, and accessible for all learners.\r\n\r\nI have especially loved seeing some of our quieter students find their confidence through storytelling. A puppet in hand or a role in a Reader's Theater script often gives them the courage to participate in ways they hadn't before. Other students who are enthusiastic about dramatic play have embraced every opportunity to perform, retell, and create stories of their own. Watching children support one another, celebrate their growth, and proudly call themselves readers and writers has been incredibly rewarding. Your generosity has given my students more than supplies. You have given them opportunities to build confidence, strengthen essential skills, and discover the joy of storytelling.
