Without your support, our cultural community project would not have been possible. The goal of the project was to celebrate culture through creativity and connection. With the new supplies, students were able to design activities from various countries that represented important aspects of Hispanic art and traditions. The materials helped to bring to life a cherished tradition from that country and gave everyone a hands-on way to celebrate their heritage and identity. Our students created over 20 arts and crafts activities! Some of the activities included: hieroglyphic rock painting from the Tainos, making pinch pots and decorating it with markers, Panamenian molas, textile coloring, day of the dead skull decorations, yarn art, painting sun clays, decorating book marks and more! \r\n\r\nThe high school took the lead by planning and creating art activities inspired by various cultures. When the students saw the supplies, they used that as inspiration to base their craft activity about. The students worked together to research the meaning and history behind each craft, ensuring that the activities reflected artistic ability and cultural pride. This preparation not only deepened their understanding of Hispanic Traditions but also built their leadership and collaboration skills. \r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of the project was when the high school students shared the creations with the children from the community. The students stayed late after school to set up the tables and then came in early the next day to continue to set up. During the community event, the students guided children at each of their table, teaching them about the culture that inspired the craft. The children were extremely engaged and eager to go from table to table taking their time making their handmade art pieces. \r\n\r\nThanks to this event, it was extremely rewarding to see an exchange of knowledge and culture between the high school students and children from the community. The cultural activities showed how art can bring people together and strengthen community pride.","fullyFundedDate":1753903010685,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-culture-to-life/9219275/","projectTitle":"Bringing Culture to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beaver","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988216"},{"teacherId":9915255,"projectId":9095379,"letterContent":"We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous sponsorship. This is especially true with financial obligations; therefore, we do all that we can to help them meet these financial obligations.\r\n\r\nMany of our students come from the inner-city, and have so many things that could discourage them and possibly keep them from trying. Some may not have anyone who believes in them and/or encourages to be all that they can be. At Delcastle, we seek to assure that our students have the confidence and the determination to go after their dreams despite the challenges that life may bring. We believe that there is greatness in all of our students, and as educators, it is our responsibility to pull that greatness out of them. Despite financial challenges, we know that our Nurse Tech students at DTHS will not only excel as they pursue their Nurse Aide Certification, but this project will be remembered as one of the stepping stones that helped carry them to their destinations. As change agents in the lives of young people seeking careers in healthcare, we stand believing in our students and vow to continue our journey investing in them and into the future of healthcare. \r\n\r\nThe students were very excited when their package arrived. Many of the students still use pencils, but have learned that when documenting in medical records black ink is required. The pens have been an integral resource for our students. Additionally, the yellow highlighters have been very useful in highlighting content in their textbook handouts which helps them to focus on important content they will see on their chapter exams as well as on their State Competency Exam. Finally, the journals will serve as the most important resource as our students prepare for their clinical rotations. Formerly, students had multiple pieces of paper which were folded up in their pockets, and sometimes even misplaced. By providing each student with a journal, they will not only be able to keep neatly organized notes but will also be able to go back and review documentation. By doing so, they will not only be able to keep up with resident's progress and/or decline, but their own growth and development as well.","fullyFundedDate":1728770841710,"projectUrl":"project/journaling-my-journey/8860944/","projectTitle":"Journaling My Journey","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Freeman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7655947_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728153348413","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7655947"},{"teacherId":9769839,"projectId":8808051,"letterContent":"3 months of active Board Game Club participation and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you!
