Because of your kindness, my students now have the materials they need to stay organized, focused, and motivated as they work toward their speech therapy, college, and career goals. They absolutely love their new binders, which they are using to track their communication goals, organize assignments, and plan the steps they need to take to reach their personal dreams.\r\n\r\nThe Sharpie Pens, Sticky Notes, and other office supplies have also been a huge help—not only for my students, but for me as their speech-language pathologist. These materials allow me to create engaging, hands-on lessons and personalized activities that help each student make meaningful progress.\r\n\r\nRight now, my speech therapy students are busy putting their binders together and beginning to research colleges and careers that interest them. It's wonderful to see their excitement as they set goals, make plans for the future, and gain the communication and organization skills they'll need for success beyond high school. Because of your donation, we were able to provide an iPad and the necessary technology to support our students with autism and communication challenges in ways that are truly meaningful and impactful.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has become a powerful tool in our classroom—it is not just a piece of technology, but a bridge to communication and learning. For many of my students who are nonverbal or have limited verbal abilities, it is helping them find their voice. With the help of communication apps and visual supports, they are now better able to express their wants, needs, and ideas throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting changes we've seen is how enthusiastic the students are about using the iPad to work toward their communication and academic goals. They were especially thrilled to receive conversation cards, which they use to ask each other questions and engage in meaningful peer interactions—something that many of them had not been able to do before. These moments of connection are incredible to witness and are a direct result of your kindness.\r\n\r\nThe iPad is also giving our students better access to learning materials in a format that meets their needs. It allows for personalized instruction, engaging visuals, and interactive learning that supports both academic growth and communication development. Some students who were previously hesitant or resistant have opened up and shown a new willingness to work on their goals thanks to this technology.\r\n\r\nYour donation is making a real difference—not just in education, but in the lives of children who are learning to connect with the world in their own unique ways. Thank you for believing in them, supporting their growth, and helping create a classroom where every student has the tools to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1758844101378,"projectUrl":"project/special-ed-materials/9654291/","projectTitle":"Special Ed Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lisa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10226019_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759341865172","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10226019"},{"teacherId":6845496,"projectId":9349616,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for your generosity in supporting our AVID students this year! With your generous contributions, our students have had the opportunity to design, create, and share meaningful projects that made a lasting impact.\r\n\r\nThe button maker, booklet stapler, and stencils quickly became student favorites. They designed custom books, buttons, and bookmarks, many of which were displayed and shared with the community during our Día de los Muertos festival. This event, which was open to families and community members, became a powerful celebration of culture, art, and student voice. One of the biggest hits was the student-made coloring sheets, which they designed specifically for younger siblings, children of teachers, and community visitors. Watching little ones joyfully color the designs made by our students was a beautiful reminder of the power of creative learning and community connection.\r\n\r\nThese tools have given our students the ability to create not only for themselves but also for their peers and the wider community. For a school in only its second year, building these traditions and community ties is invaluable. Our students—many of whom are multilingual learners from Latine households—were able to see their cultural expressions celebrated and shared. The pride and excitement on their faces as they saw others engaging with their work was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helped build a sense of agency, collaboration, and cultural pride in our students. The skills they gained in creativity, teamwork, and hands-on production will continue to serve them well in future projects.
