These books about the parts of a plant have made our unit on plants a huge success! We studied their life cycles, the parts of a plant, and their functions. Not only did our new books provide my students with content knowledge but they also provided an opportunity for us to work on identifying the components of non fiction text like the table of contents and the glossary. \r\nStudents are allowed to access the books we are using in our current unit during our ELA time or when they have completed their work. Many of my students enjoy the colorful pictures of real life objects in the books and have even used this time to practice unit vocabulary.","fullyFundedDate":1736989159104,"projectUrl":"project/operation-information/9056744/","projectTitle":"Operation Information","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ancone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7479493"},{"teacherId":7479493,"projectId":8679360,"letterContent":"Thanks again for your contribution to the work systems, literacy instruction, vocational training, and behavior supports for our classroom.\r\nThe materials in this project have streamlined our work systems to encourage student independence and access to learning tools. Each student now has their own pencil pouch with dry erase markers, pencils, and erasers in their task boxes. This enables students to complete more steps in their work without adult support. \r\nWe have expanded our vocational training opportunities for students to complete jobs in the classroom. Students are learning to file their completed work, which is then stored into their work portfolios. We have created another opportunity for a student to roll lunches to the cafeteria or toys to the playground in our rolling cart. \r\nOur literacy instruction has been impacted by the addition of shelving for books from our current units of study to be displayed. Students have started to choose looking at those books after independent work. \r\nWe have been able to upgrade our visuals and token economies with new clip boards, binders, and timers. These tools allow us to positively support student behavior utilizing strategies in student IEPs. \r\nMoving forward we will be looking to expand job roles in our classroom to give students opportunities to complete a variety of tasks in our classroom like watering plants, washing dishes, pencil sharpening, laundry, and assembly tasks. These skills may later translate to job opportunities for our students in the community.","fullyFundedDate":1725557520043,"projectUrl":"project/all-systems-go/8679360/","projectTitle":"All Systems Go!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ancone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7479493"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_107805","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":753,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.4,"schoolId":107805,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Deerfield Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Deerfield Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/lexington-county-school-district-1/deerfield-elementary-school/107805"}
