Because of you, my Multilingual Learners (MLLs) now have hands-on phonics resources that are making a meaningful difference in their learning every day.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the letter popsicles, snap & build phonics sets with blends and digraphs, phonics matching cards, and anchor chart paper during small group instruction and literacy centers. One powerful moment happened during a recent lesson on digraphs—students worked together to build words using the snap & build pieces, then used the matching cards to connect sounds to words. I watched as students who are usually hesitant became confident and excited, proudly reading words like \"ship\" and \"chop\" aloud.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They immediately wanted to touch, explore, and start building. For many of my MLL students, these visual and tactile tools help make abstract phonics concepts much more concrete and accessible.\r\n\r\nNext, we are continuing to build on these skills by having students apply their phonics knowledge in reading and writing activities. We are using the anchor chart paper to co-create visual supports for blends and digraphs, and students will soon use what they've learned to write their own sentences and short stories using targeted phonics patterns.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create an engaging, interactive learning environment where students feel confident taking risks and growing as readers. The carpet and flexible seating have quickly become a favorite space where students read independently or work together. This area has helped create a comfortable and inviting environment that encourages students to continue learning with giving them the option of sitting somewhere else other than their desks. \r\n\r\nThe new books have have been so popular with the students. The books, Dog Man, I Survived, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and The Bad Guys have motivated all levels of readers to pick up a book and stay engaged. Many students have read multiple books within a series, helping them develop into series readers\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the class set of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has made our novel study a fun and interactive reading. Students are deeply engaged in the story and have extended their learning through creative activities such as designing their own chocolate bars, participating in interactive games, and will be completing a final chocolate-themed project. We are even planning a special celebration day where students will share their projects and enjoy a chocolate-themed day together. While many of our donors are avid readers themselves, these new books do much more than tell a good story—they help us teach essential reading skills every day. The new texts introduce and reinforce skills such as making inferences, identifying themes, analyzing characters, building vocabulary through context, and comparing different texts within a series. Because students are reading books that genuinely interest them, they're more willing to slow down, reread, and think deeply about what they've read.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and joyful. Students curl up with books during independent reading time, excitedly recommend titles to one another, and eagerly discuss characters and plot twists during small-group conversations. We use these books for book talks, reading conferences, and literature discussions, and students are increasingly confident sharing their thinking aloud. The variety of series and genres has helped every student find a book that feels \"just right\" for them.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were once hesitant or reluctant readers are especially thriving. Some students now ask for extra reading time, race to finish a book so they can start the next in the series, or proudly talk about characters as if they were old friends. One student who struggled to stay focused during reading time is now deeply engaged, motivated by the familiarity and comfort of following the same characters across multiple books. The new fidgets and incentives have helped create a structured, supportive environment where students feel motivated to practice and meet our weekly goals. At first, the rewards served as powerful extrinsic motivators—students were eager to earn a small fidget, sticker, or prize for staying on task or mastering a skill.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is watching that motivation gradually shift. Once students started meeting their goals consistently, they began to experience the satisfaction of hearing themselves improve. A perfect example happened during our \"First Five Notes Challenge.\" Students worked hard all week to earn their incentives, but by the end many of them weren't even talking about the rewards—they were excited about the fact that they could finally play a clear, confident sound.
