My students now have the freedom to choose where they learn best. One memorable moment was during our morning meeting, where students used different seating areas to form a circle to celebrate a students birthday. They felt comfortable giving compliments and listening to each other, and the quality of their ideas and participation really showed it.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was contagious! As soon as they walked in and saw the new seating, there were gasps, wide eyes, and lots of \"Can I try that one?\" The room immediately buzzed with curiosity and joy. Many students commented that it made the classroom feel more like a space designed for them, which was exactly the goal.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating has been a game-changer, especially during our current culminating project: an A–Z Google Slides presentation. Each student is creating a slide for every letter of the alphabet, summarizing key concepts we've learned throughout the year. With flexible seating, students are able to choose workspaces that best suit their needs—some prefer quiet corners to focus and reflect, while others group together using floor cushions or low tables to brainstorm and review material collaboratively. It's incredible to see how the right seating encourages independence, creativity, and teamwork.","fullyFundedDate":1746769733746,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-young-learners/9072566/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Young Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Holiday","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3530438_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1560725424409","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3530438"},{"teacherId":317767,"projectId":8552272,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the material that we received. They have been so helpful in class. Students come to school hungry and often time before they've had a chance to prep themselves in the morning. When my students saw the toothbrushes, brushes, wet wipes and even snacks they were ecstatic. They wanted everything right away. The snacks came in handy during testing sessions. Food and test taking seem to go hand in hand. The combs and brushes were super handy when we had picture day. Finally, the wet wipes were especially useful when students came in from a hot recess day. The cool wipes gave students a chance to cool off and reconnect with learning. \r\n\r\nOur next moves will be to contribute some of our items to other grades. We were so overwhelmed with all the materials we received that we decided it would be great to share. So we did. We donated toothbrushes to our kinder classrooms and students even gave a short presentation on proper brushing techniques. So thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1727125184824,"projectUrl":"project/self-care-is-not-selfish/8552272/","projectTitle":"Self Care is Not Selfish","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Roche","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp317767_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1449378136306","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/susan-portillo-roche"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59302","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":442,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.2,"schoolId":59302,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Darnall Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Darnall Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/darnall-charter-school/59302"}
