Your support has had an incredible impact on our daily learning, and I'm so excited to share the difference it has made.\r\n\r\nThese headphones have become an essential tool in our classroom. Students use them every day to access our online curriculum, learning platforms, and educational websites. The sound quality allows them to focus and engage deeply, while the microphones let them record themselves reading, narrate projects, and complete oral assignments with confidence and pride.\r\n\r\nThe ability to listen to audiobooks, podcasts, and instructional videos has opened up new learning opportunities for all students—and has made reading much more accessible and enjoyable. My students love following along with audiobooks and discovering new stories, while others have found inspiration listening to podcasts.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these headphones have been especially beneficial for my students with disabilities and those who struggle with reading and writing. With clear audio and built-in microphones, they can now easily use text-to-speech and speech-to-text tools. This has given them a new level of independence, confidence, and success in expressing their ideas.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a more equitable and engaging classroom. This was my first time using Donor's Choose, and I didn't know what to expect. It didn't take long for the sensory bins and colorful pellets to arrive soon after the email notification. When they did arrive, we set them up right away. I had wanted these bins for my students all year and used food boxes as poor substitutes for the children to play with water and sand.\r\n\r\nWhen introducing the bins, I told the students who supplied and sponsored the project and showed the Panda Express logo for the students to see and identify our sponsor. That day, each student was allowed a 20-minute turn to play. For their first experience, they just played with water in the bins. They poured, measured, and re-poured the water from beakers to cups. They used spoons, droppers, and funnels. Many of them were drenched as submerging their arms into the water was a sensation that was soothing to them. Each student is given a few turns each week on a rotation to spend time using the sensory bins. They respond differently depending on their personality. Some very quietly pour and are mesmerized; some are animated and get quite messy. Regardless, the time flies for them. The bins are set up in an outside area by our classroom door so that the students can explore freely without fear of getting the classroom floor sandy and/or wet.\r\n\r\nFollowing their initial experience, we have used the bins with kinetic sand, the colorful pellets provided, and dry sand. To support our science this month, students also explored what items might sink or float. They created foil \"boats\" and tested how many math cubes their boats could hold before sinking, then re-created their boats with better outcomes. In addition, they use the bins to understand the concept of \"more than\" and \"less than\" in math.\r\n\r\nThe bins have been wonderful for my class of four and five-year-old students.","fullyFundedDate":1739368338268,"projectUrl":"project/messy-meaningful-learning-in-transition/9072520/","projectTitle":"Messy Meaningful Learning in Transition Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9903364_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753107583725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9903364"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25975","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":467,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":71,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":25975,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cucamonga Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cucamonga Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/cucamonga-school-district/cucamonga-elementary-school/25975"}
