The students have really been enjoying writing and annotating using the colored pens. The table lamps were the biggest hit during both silent reading and small group work. My honors classes found them relaxing during times when they needed to hunker down and get to work.\r\n I can not wait to complete one page spreads with the colored pens so I can see some of their artistic talent! I have included a picture of what the one page spread will look like when we complete them. I wanted to start the year by getting my students into their novels before I asked them to design an entire page for their book. We are preparing to read The Taming of the Shrew, and I will be using these spreads after they finish their novel to showcase their understanding of major concepts in the play. The diamond stickers have only been used sparingly when grading essays, but when we begin creative writing after testing I intend to use them all! Students love stickers and the diamond ones make them feel like they accomplished something, even when just drafting. \r\n Although these were not \"necessary\" supplies, they are things that make learning more fun in the classroom.
