This is an important aspect to have in a classroom.\r\n\r\nAs an ELD teacher, my goals is to have students receive many opportunities to communicate, practicing English language. On the carpet, I have students practice saying vocabulary and their meanings to each other. We practice sentence structure based on the content we are learning as well. They also get to have discussions around topics we are learning about. The classroom carpet is the central hub for great conversation.\r\n\r\nNot only do we get to converse a great amount on the carpet but it is a great place to have out physical learning. On the carpet, we act like animals when learning about them, we do science experiments, like creating race tracks for marbles and then discussing the vocabulary, we get to practice total physical response when learning new words.
