This project just gives a little extra motivation to my high achieving students who are really dedicated to 3D printing. I meet with them next week, and I have all my supplies ready to give them. Along with a lanyard and their own flash drive they get a badge showing they are a Print Crew member. I am adding gold badges for students who have done over 15 lessons as well. I know they are going to be excited, especially since many have already lost or broken the lanyards they get from school for their IDs. These lanyards we ordered are much better quality and have a stronger clip on the end. \r\n\r\nStudents use the flash drives to transfer files from their own computer to our computer with software on it. Having their own means they can keep track of files in our internet-less enterprise. This grant funds us throughout the year by restocking our supplies for the 3D Print Lab. Tomorrow is my first meeting for new club members but my in class students have already taken off printing. Its so meaningful to see the full shelves and let students decide which color to open next! My students won 2nd place in a contest last year and we received some money they spent on a multicolor adapter. We are very excited to be able to print using more than one color now. \r\n\r\nWriting this now I am surrounded by humming machines cranking away. We are starting school fully equipped. I am excited to meet my new students but my returning students are really thrilled to see the upgraded lab! We now have a dedicated computer station for students to use. Throughout the year I am going to host different design challenges for my advanced students, culminating in participation in our local science centers 3D design contest. Having student have access to different forms of software makes them more adaptable later in life. Right now they use two different slicer softwares and one design software. We want to expant to using more types of design software and learn more adult centered software rather than the kid scaffolded version. The students are also excited because many are interested in learning to make designs so they can sell products or files they create themselves. To give back I also have some experienced students this year working on files for our vision unit so we can print models for students with vision impairments. I'm proud they have enough skills to work independently on these kinds of projects. Thank you again and I hope you will continue to support my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1778024008843,"projectUrl":"project/coding-for-3d-printing/10217368/","projectTitle":"Coding for 3D Printing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Eck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp631307_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y14&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699063978803","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/eeck"},{"teacherId":631307,"projectId":10023252,"letterContent":"I'm so thrilled to start the school year with all our resources. Having these materials secure, helps make a fun and welcoming environment. This is a hard year for teachers in Florida, we have major budget cuts, no extra funding and 10 more students per class. It is ONLY through support like yours that these programs exist. I prepared for the year by already printing ID holders for all my incoming students and I have been hearing from my graduates going to high school who are still active in 3D printing. On the first day of school my 6th graders will be seeing a shining row of 3D printers equipt and ready to go! August will be a busy month getting so many new students printing! This year I am expanding our advanced club that meets after school to have a multicolor printer, compete in more contests and do more enrichment projects. Thank you again, I I hope you will continue to support me and my fellow teachers.","fullyFundedDate":1777990607421,"projectUrl":"project/life-in-plastic-its-fantastic-to-3d-p/10023252/","projectTitle":"Life in Plastic, It's Fantastic- to 3D Print!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Eck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp631307_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y14&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699063978803","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/eeck"},{"teacherId":631307,"projectId":9329756,"letterContent":"We are excited for the materials you helped us get.
