I've created a calm, supportive space where students can take a break, practice coping strategies, and work through big feelings before returning to class. One especially meaningful moment was watching a student independently choose a calming tool and then return to class feeling more confident and regulated.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were excited and immediately drawn to their favorites—the Little Spot books, plushies, and the hand2mind feeling sensory bottles. The books help students identify and name their emotions, the plushies provide comfort and security, and the sensory bottles give students a visual and tactile way to slow their breathing and calm their bodies. These tools have helped students feel safe, supported, and more willing to open up about how they're feeling.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, the next steps include continuing targeted social-emotional lessons in my office, using these resources to guide conversations and practice coping strategies, and helping students transfer these skills back into their classrooms and everyday routines. Your support is helping students build lifelong emotional awareness and self-regulation skills, and it has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the students I serve.","fullyFundedDate":1769090287904,"projectUrl":"project/helping-little-feelings-grow/9994629/","projectTitle":"Helping Little Feelings Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. A","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10399460"},{"teacherId":5275246,"projectId":9948878,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping me get new resources for the classroom. The students love asking what their next name activity will be to help them learn. We expect them to make messes as they are four years old. It shows they are learning. We also expect them to clean up their own messes. We expect the students to vacuum up the rice they spill from the sensory table or the crumbs from messy meals. When they spill drinks, the students can use the towels to easily clean up the spills rather than using our tissue paper like paper towel. \r\nTeaching the children at a early age the importance of maintaining a clean environment helps them build good lifelong healthy habits. With your help, this is now a possibility. \r\nMy students have the opportunity to explore materials through sight, sound, and touch. We can change our sensory table based on our theme or students' interest at least monthly - if not more often. I can create pirate's treasure hunt as the students dig for gems and gold in the sand. I can create apple pie creating for the fall as the students can dig for apples and create apple pie with the apples and felt in the pie pans. I get to create a table where they can practice sorting buttons according to color, shape, or size. With the supplies you help me get, our opportunities are endless. \r\nAs I was opening the supplies, the students were immediately interested and engaged in what I was getting. We have just changed it up for winter to add blue rice and winter mugs for the students to pretend to make drinks. \r\n\r\nWith this table, I have seen the students us it as a center to calm down.
