The rolling storage cart has given us an easy way to organize frequently used student materials and supports so they are accessible throughout the day. The labels, colorful cardstock, clipboards, lanyards, and timers have also been put to work creating visual supports, organizing materials, collecting student data, and helping students better understand expectations and transitions.\r\n\r\nThe timers and portable materials have been especially useful when supporting students outside of a traditional classroom setting. The clipboards, belt bags, and lanyards allow staff to keep important visuals, reinforcement materials, and data collection tools readily available as we move with students throughout the school day. The calming blue bulletin board paper has also helped us create a more welcoming and visually calming space for students.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to help us build predictable routines and provide students with the individualized supports they need to be successful. As we move through the school year, we will use the cardstock and organizational materials to create additional visual schedules, choice boards, reinforcement systems, and other student-specific supports. The vacuum, broom, cleaning cloths, soaps, tissues, sanitizer supplies, and other cleaning materials have quickly become part of our everyday routine. With so many students moving through our spaces and sharing materials throughout the day, having these supplies readily available makes it much easier to keep frequently used areas and items clean and ready for students.\r\n\r\nThe students especially enjoyed the individual hand sanitizer bottles and holders! Having supplies like tissues, hand soap, and sanitizer easily accessible also gives students opportunities to practice independence and take responsibility for keeping themselves and their shared spaces clean. The vacuum and broom have been incredibly helpful for quickly taking care of everyday messes, while the screen wipes and microfiber cloths allow us to keep frequently used technology and other materials clean.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these resources to maintain a comfortable, organized space where students can focus on learning rather than distractions from messes or missing supplies. The large monthly calendar has been especially helpful for keeping important dates, schedules, and activities visible, while the hanging organizer gives our materials a designated place where they are easy to access when we need them.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see all of the colorful new supplies! The pens, Post-it notes, and flags have been great tools for making visuals, preparing student materials, organizing behavior and learning supports, and keeping track of the many moving pieces that happen throughout a school day. Having these resources readily available allows me to spend less time searching for or organizing materials and more time focused on supporting students.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these supplies will continue to help us build routines, stay organized, and create visual supports that make expectations and schedules easier for students to understand. The books I selected are intentionally centered around kindness, acceptance, and neurodiversity, topics that are essential for students to understand both themselves and others.\r\n\r\nThrough these stories, students will be exposed to characters who think, learn, and experience the world in different ways. This representation is powerful. It helps students who identify as neurodivergent feel seen, valued, and understood, while also teaching their peers the importance of compassion, patience, and respect.\r\n\r\nThese books will serve as a foundation for classroom discussions, social-emotional learning, and perspective-taking activities. Students will not only build literacy skills, but also develop critical life skills such as empathy, self-awareness, and inclusivity.\r\n\r\nUltimately, this project will foster a classroom culture where differences are celebrated, kindness is practiced daily, and every student feels a true sense of belonging.","fullyFundedDate":1773851013018,"projectUrl":"project/stories-that-teach-kindness-and-neurodiv/10152652/","projectTitle":"Stories That Teach Kindness and Neurodiversity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. P","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7993126"},{"teacherId":7993126,"projectId":9856019,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Fidgets and Prizes for the Win!\" Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our classroom, and we are incredibly grateful for your investment in our students.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, our students now have access to a variety of fidgets and incentive-based prizes that support both their focus and motivation throughout the school day. Many of our students benefit from hands-on tools that help them regulate their energy, manage stress, and stay engaged in learning. The addition of these fidgets has allowed students to remain more attentive during lessons, participate more consistently, and feel more in control of their bodies and emotions.\r\n\r\nThe prizes have also played a key role in reinforcing positive behaviors. By providing students with clear goals and meaningful rewards, we have seen an increase in task completion, positive peer interactions, and overall classroom engagement. Students are excited to earn incentives and are taking pride in making positive choices.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, these materials are helping us create a classroom environment rooted in encouragement, structure, and success. Students are building confidence, strengthening self-regulation skills, and experiencing what it feels like to be successful in a supportive setting.\r\n\r\nYour support is helping us meet students where they are and provide them with the tools they need to thrive. Because of your generosity, our classroom now has a dedicated, structured space where students can access, organize, and take ownership of their learning materials. The new bookshelf serves as a central hub for student binders, while the view binders and file labels allow us to clearly organize individual work, behavior supports, and classroom resources in a way that is both accessible and visually clear for students.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited to have a space that felt \"official\" and just for them. Several students immediately asked where their binder would go and were eager to help label and organize their folders. For many of my students, especially those who benefit from visual structure and predictability, having clearly labeled binders and a consistent place for materials has already reduced anxiety and increased independence.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the Organization Station to support ongoing classroom routines such as tracking assignments, organizing completed work, and storing individualized supports. Our next steps include teaching students how to independently manage their binders as part of our executive functioning and responsibility goals. The sentence strips and sentence starter posters were helpful to students who would have trouble coming up with what to say. It allowed the students to keep the conversation going and learn from each other. It gave them a sentence frame to agree and add on to their partners thinking or also disagree politely and give their view.\r\n\r\nMy students especially liked the spinners on the board! I have used it for group accountability, by writing group numbers on the board to see which group will share out their ideas, then give it a spin. I also write letters on the board, that match their individual letter, to determine which student will be the speaker for the group. \r\n\r\nI really have seen an improvement my student's math focused conversations and have seen more students gain confidence in speaking with their classmates.
