The technology and equipment you provided have given my students the opportunity to learn about wildlife management, habitat, soil health, and aquatic ecosystems through real-world, hands-on experiences. Instead of simply reading about these topics, students are able to collect and analyze data from our school's property and use the same types of tools that wildlife and natural resource professionals use in the field. Our Kestrel weather station, soil testing equipment, game cameras, and soil probes allow my Range Ecology students to investigate how weather, soil conditions, and habitat influence plant growth and wildlife. In Wildlife, students can use game cameras to monitor wildlife populations and behavior, the Fish Scout Predator and Aqua-Vu underwater cameras to observe aquatic life, and the Xero C1 Pro chronograph to better understand firearm performance and safe shooting practices.\r\n\r\nWhat is most exciting for my students is being able to take what they learn in the classroom and immediately apply it outdoors. They love checking game cameras and discovering what wildlife has been using the property, testing soil to determine what our habitat needs, and using underwater cameras to see what is happening beneath the surface of our pond—things they simply cannot experience through a textbook. Students who may not always be the most engaged during traditional classroom instruction have especially warmed to these activities because they are active participants in the learning process. They are asking questions, making observations, collecting data, and working together to solve real problems. Your generosity is helping me create meaningful learning experiences that connect students to agriculture, wildlife, and conservation while showing them how technology can be used to better understand and manage the natural resources around them.
