The kids were so excited to see all of the snacks they are going to be taking home for remote days. Unfortunately, where we are located in southwestern Pennsylvania (right at the WV border), we get a lot of the mountain winter weather. Our district is giant in land area even though we only have about 1100 students total. Many parts are in extremely rural areas where the roads are basically paths vehicles have worn down across what were once fields. Even when the weather isn't too horrible in the more suburban areas of the district, these rural spots are unpassable for our vans and / or busses. Our area, also, tends to flood a lot when we have heavy or a ton of rain in a short amount of time. For these reasons, we have a higher than average number of remote days.\r\n It isn't always the case but the kids living in these very rural areas tend to be the most in need. They love coming to school because they know they get a free breakfast and lunch to eat. When they are home on the weekends and on remote days, that isn't always the case. These snack bags will give them something they know they will have available to eat. \r\n Some of my kids even commented they can't wait for the first remote day so they can \"dig into\" the snack bags. I won't lie - I did let each of them have 1 item from the boxes when I unpacked them. The rest of the items have been divided up into grocery bags to send home when we have upcoming concerning weather reports. There is enough for each child to be cover for 12 remote days!! This is amazing and a blessing!! \r\n Thank you again for what you did. You will never understand how much it means to these kids!
