Learning about Geometry should be fun, engaging and full of opportunities for hands on discovery. In order to successfully identify the physical attributes of geometrical figures, children need opportunities to see them, hold them, build them and create with them. Of course we could do worksheets or show examples on technology, but those activities would not be as meaningful. Learning Math should be fun! Let's teach our kids that Life without Geometry would be POINTLESS! In third grade geometry, students will have to examine the attributes of a shape. They will describe the lines, angles and number of sides that the shape has. Several shapes share attributes, therefore they will need to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between each geometrical figures. Next up students will begin to partition shapes into equal areas, which next leads us into our unit on fractions. Math concepts that are taught in elementary school are the building blocks of skills that will create a strong foundation for their future math achievement. Help us to build a strong foundation!
