Students are now able to capture high-quality photos and videos during events, projects, and classroom activities, which has helped them better understand how technology is used for communication, documentation, and storytelling.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students the most is having hands-on access to real photography equipment. They enjoy learning how to frame shots, adjust settings, and work together to capture meaningful moments. Students who are usually less engaged in traditional tasks have shown strong interest in using the cameras, especially those who are drawn to creativity, media, and technology-based activities. It has also encouraged teamwork as students take turns, share ideas, and support one another during projects.\r\n\r\nThis project has created more active participation and excitement in learning. I would love to share how these new resources are actively shaping our classroom experience.\r\n\r\nStudents are using the new desks and chairs every day to support longer, more focused learning during our 87-minute block periods. With the addition of Native American tribes maps and atlases, we recently completed a classroom project where students analyzed tribal regions and created visual presentations connecting geography to culture, history, and identity. One powerful moment came when students identified their own communities on the maps, sparking meaningful discussions and a deeper personal connection to the lesson.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited. The new seating immediately stood out and many commented on how comfortable it felt compared to the old stools. There was also a strong sense of pride and curiosity as they explored the maps and atlases, eager to find familiar places and learn more about them.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will build on this foundation by engaging in a document-based inquiry project focused on the historical changes in Native lands and communities. They will use the maps and atlases to support their analysis and present evidence-based conclusions.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our classroom the tools to learn, connect, and grow in meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1770917482408,"projectUrl":"project/going-native-comfortably-phase-2/10090295/","projectTitle":"Going Native Comfortably Phase 2","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kibe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10427691"},{"teacherId":10427691,"projectId":10080855,"letterContent":"I write to you with deep gratitude and sincere appreciation for your generous support of my classroom project. Your contribution has made a meaningful and lasting difference in the learning environment of my students, and I am truly thankful for your commitment to education. \r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, we were able to replace high stools and tables with proper desks and chairs that are far more comfortable and supportive for students. This change has had an immediate and noticeable impact. Our school is operating on a block schedule, where each class lasts 87 minutes, and the previous seating arrangement often made it difficult for students to remain focused and engaged for such extended periods. The new furniture has created a more conducive learning environment. Students are more settled, attentive, and ready to participate throughout the entire lesson. \r\n\r\nBeyond comfort, the new desks and chairs have also helped foster a sense of dignity and belonging among students. A well-organized and thoughtfully equipped classroom communicates to students that their learning matters. It encourages them to take pride in their space and in their work. I have already seen an increase in collaboration, participation, and overall classroom morale. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the furniture, your donations also made it possible to purchase Native American maps and atlases. These resources are invaluable in helping students connect more deeply with the content we study. As a Social Studies teacher, I strive to make learning relevant, culturally grounded and meaningful. These maps and atlases allow students to explore geography, history, and identity in a more visual and engaging way. For many of my students, seeing their heritage and communities represented in classroom materials is both empowering and affirming. \r\n\r\nYour support has gone far beyond providing physical items, it has enriched the entire learning experience. You have helped create a classroom that is more inclusive, comfortable, and academically stimulating. Most importantly, you have shown students that there are people who believe in their potential and are willing to invest in their success. \r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for your generosity, your thoughtfulness, and your belief in education. Instead of only reading about different countries, my students can now see landmarks, hear accents, and make real-world connections that deepen their understanding and comprehension. This has made reading more engaging and meaningful for them.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is how interactive the technology is. They began by designing cultural keychains that reflect who they are, especially pieces inspired by White Mountain Apache traditions, symbols, and stories. This allowed them to combine technology with cultural pride in a meaningful and personal way.\r\n\r\nBeyond cultural projects, students also used the 3D printers to create functional items such as pencil holders, door stoppers, cable organizers, and other practical objects they could use in the classroom or at home. These projects helped them learn about problem solving, design thinking, and how engineering can make everyday life easier.\r\n\r\nThrough these activities, students developed skills in 3D modeling, measurement, creativity, and spatial reasoning. More importantly, they experienced the excitement of seeing their digital designs turn into real, physical objects they could touch, use, and share. The resources have made STEM learning hands on, culturally relevant, and deeply engaging for every student involved.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction was unforgettable. When the students saw the 3D printers and materials for the first time, many of them were amazed. Some leaned in closely to watch the printer move, fascinated by how a simple strand of filament could become something they imagined. They immediately began brainstorming ideas, sketching designs, and asking questions about what they could create.\r\n\r\nSeveral students expressed how excited they were to bring their cultural ideas to life in a new and modern way. The excitement in the room was heartfelt, and students' enthusiasm grew even stronger once they saw their first prints come to life.
