Thanks to your support, we received a set of water chemistry testing kits, including equipment to measure pH, nitrate, phosphate, and salinity levels. What began as a donated set of tools has blossomed into a meaningful and memorable learning experience.\r\n\r\nOur unit on stormwater pollution came to life the moment students picked up these testing kits. Rather than simply reading about water quality in a textbook, students became scientists. They collected water samples from our school's stormwater system and used the pH, nitrate, phosphate, and salinity kits to analyze what pollutants were present in our community's water.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on nature of this project fundamentally changed how my students engaged with environmental science. When a student sees a salinity reading spike above safe levels in water flowing toward a local creek, the abstract concept of \"nonpoint source pollution\" becomes very real, very fast. Students explored the potential causes of what they found, researched the ecological consequences, and, most importantly, began asking what could be done about it.\r\n\r\nThe enthusiasm in the room during these lab days was tangible. Students who rarely participated in class were eager to collect water samples, take readings, record data, and compare results across sampling sites. \r\n\r\nYour investment will continue to pay dividends for years to come. These testing kits are durable, reusable, and versatile enough to support projects across multiple science classes. Every student who uses one of these kits in the years ahead will benefit from your decision to invest in science education.
