They were beyond surprised (and so excited!) when I offered them an assortment of snacks to choose from. My students aren't picky — just truly grateful for any treats they receive.\r\n\r\nThese amazing students volunteer their time every Thursday from 4–7 p.m. in our Spartan Closet, providing free clothing to any community member in need. Many of them start their day as early as 8:15 a.m. and stay until closing time, all with smiles on their faces and hearts full of kindness. Without their dedication, the Closet simply couldn't stay open.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful snack donations are more than a kind gesture — they're a small but powerful reminder that our students' hard work matters and that their community sees and supports them. I have already received a lot of the supplies and I have had students changing badly needed filter replacements. \r\nWe have stored the fish food for the rest of the school year, it will probably last us into next school year. I am in the process of teaching all classes how to make our own filters again from the activated charcoal and in the mean time our fish tanks all look healthy and well. \r\nWe have completed water testing in all tanks, and this week we are doing a microscope lab, looking at freshwater micro-organisms. These tests are reusable and so we will use them again next year, and I also shared some soil tests with the garden teacher as well. What a wonderful experience! We now have an abundance of clothing to offer. \r\n\r\nWith each package we receive the students are in awe because they are not used to generous people helping complete strangers. When our shoppers arrive they are greet by a friendly face and some nice music thanks to the big bluetooth speaker we now have. In addition our table now has a covering to hide its blemished making it more appealing to the customers eye. Time and time again we are complimented on how amazing our store is. My students have gotten our aprons printed with our logo and now they feel like this is a job which boosts their confidence. The best part about our aprons are they were printed and designed by their peers who take a class called Print Shop. Our hangers allow us to display more clothing in order to make it feel like a real \"retail\" store. The overflow supplies now have baskets to store our extras in a fashionable way since we don't have lots of storage. Our jewelry organizers make it easier to see and display for shopping, who doesn't love jewelry. Every shopper needs accessories to add final touches.\r\n\r\nMy Spartans are always excited to see how kind complete strangers can be. They love opening up boxes to see what was ordered to make our Spartan Closet more professional. The students were curious as to what was in the box. We opened it together as a class and the excitment the students had once they see what was in it was priceless. There was lots of jumping up and down, high fives, and very loud laughing and cheering!!! We took it our washed the bowl and we decided we would whip up some cookies. After we ate our chocolate chip cookies the students and I decided our next project would be to bake a cake from scratch and ice it. I brought my personal cake decorating supplys to class along with some icing.
