Students will use the fabric to learn how to sew a garment from scratch. They are learning to read a commercial patterns and adjust the pattern to fit a person. Creating a garment from scratch will enable students to learn the entire process of fitting/sewing/pattern making and encounter obstacles that help the learning process. The Fashion and Costume industry require an understanding of garment construction. Students that are interested in those industries are learning skills to become competitive. Several students have expressed interest and are working on/towards their own entrepreneurial projects involving fashion and garment wear. This project will help inform the three dimensional thinking of all students enrolled in the classes with fabric and sewing supplies.
