California History Standards expect students to learn about different types of government at this level. It is hard for students in 6th Grade to compare these other governments completely to our country; they are somewhat familiar with our United States Constitution, but lack many details. Students wanted to know more, especially about their rights as an American. \r\nSo far we have read both books, \"What is the Constitution?\" and \"A More Perfect Union\". These books helped students understand the history of how our country came to be. Students have been able to begin reading their own pocket copy of The Constitution as well. They have been particularly interested in their rights under each Amendment. We will continue to use these materials to engage in discussions about our 'perfect union'. \r\nWith your support, this project has made an incredible impact on the discussions in my classroom. I will be able to use these materials for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1769178040790,"projectUrl":"project/my-civic-duty/9838769/","projectTitle":"My Civic Duty","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Perrone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp674172_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1625783670029","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-perrone"},{"teacherId":5594597,"projectId":9652920,"letterContent":"My students and I are so appreciative of the brand new yoga mats we were gifted! Last year, I pulled a bunch of old, dirty, yoga mats out of the PE shed, and despite taking them home to clean them, they still looked really uninviting. \r\n\r\nThis year, having brand new yoga mats for my morning mindfulness is so incredible! Plus, I got to throw all the old yoga mats away! They provide students a clean and comfy space where we begin our mornings, learn to regulate big emotions, manage feelings of anxiety, and learn essential tools to help kids be successful, healthy and happy! \r\n\r\nThe yoga mats have been such a gift to my counseling program, and I am so grateful! I love having a space to offer my students, and my morning mindfulness sessions are growing. I enjoy being able to offer this resource to students, families and even teachers who need a space for their students, and we are seeing huge improvements in mental health and behaviors.","fullyFundedDate":1763057055883,"projectUrl":"project/yoga-mats-for-morning-mindfulness/9652920/","projectTitle":"Yoga Mats for Morning Mindfulness","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Teves","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5594597_orig.png?crop=828,827,x0,y295&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756231611006","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5594597"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45148","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":484,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":56,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"24.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":65.7,"schoolId":45148,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Christine Sipherd Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Christine Sipherd Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/empire-union-elementary-school-district/christine-sipherd-elementary-school/45148"}
