They noticed immediately the writing center, filled with your generous donations. Each morning, our children happily come over to sign in, and then write their names on the white board, too. They practice the letter of the week on the white board and draw pictures related to the letter, for example, drawing a fish for letter F week. \r\n\r\nThey were extremely happy to get their hands on the felt board story pieces. We have had a lot of snow here in Philadelphia this winter, and The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats has been a favorite book. With the felt pieces from the story, children were able to retell the story on their own. My students also love the alpha locks, where they match uppercase and lowercase letters. They challenge one another by placing the locks closed around the classroom, where children need to find the matching key to open. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to use these materials to enhance literacy instruction. One of our classroom goals is to create more books, where every child participates in creating their own page/s.","fullyFundedDate":1764686992764,"projectUrl":"project/love-for-literacy/9600359/","projectTitle":"Love for Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Noelle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4477175_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756128163962","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4477175"},{"teacherId":10223396,"projectId":9649713,"letterContent":"Hello Friends,\r\nOnce again, thank you for donating and supporting my classroom and my students. With the funding of my projecting, 'The Power of Literacy', I have spruced up our library with new books and provided some comfy setting arrangements. Likewise, the Dogman games and puzzles have been a big hit! In particular, the Dogman Flip-O-Rama matching game has been a fan favorite because it includes ringing a bell every time a match is discovered.\r\n\r\nStudent reactions have all been 'supa' positive! Everyone wanted to play the games and everyone wanted to sit in the chairs. Likewise, adding more Dogman books, as well as some of Dav Pilkey's other books, has increased the interest in reading altogether including buddy reading. Multiple students like to read the same Dogman books together side by side. This is a wonderful way to support students at different levels because they are able to follow along as the other reads aloud.","fullyFundedDate":1764598928170,"projectUrl":"project/the-power-of-literacy/9649713/","projectTitle":"The Power of Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ward II","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10223396"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_117446","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":79.9,"schoolId":117446,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Children's Village Head Start on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Children's Village Head Start","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/philadelphia-city-school-district/children-s-village/117446"}
