As a supplement to the Second Step curriculum, children will explore self-regulation through books like; "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" by Carol McCloud and "The Little Engine That Could" by Watty Piper. Building social/emotional skills are a vital part of early learning, and these books will give children a safe place to explore these concepts. The Second Step curriculum proactively teaches self-regulation by using puppets, games, and books to allow children to develop calming techniques and conflict resolution strategies when they are not in the midst of a crisis. Purchasing these books that are recommended by the Second Step curriculum will enhance their learning a provide another way for them to build these important skills.
