My students have already been able to use the new materials during academic lessons, independent work, life skills activities, and calming breaks. The classroom carpet has helped create a comfortable space for group instruction and activities, while the task boxes, puzzles, STEM materials, and sensory items have given students more opportunities to practice problem-solving, fine motor skills, communication, and independence. One of my favorite moments has been watching students choose an activity, work through it at their own pace, and show such pride when they complete it successfully.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were excited to explore everything. They especially enjoyed the hands-on activities and materials they could build, sort, create, and manipulate. Having a variety of choices has also helped me better meet each student's individual needs and give them meaningful activities that keep them engaged while still working toward important skills.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building these resources into our daily routines and independent work stations. I plan to use the task boxes and hands-on materials to create activities that connect directly to students' academic and life skills goals, while gradually increasing the amount of work they can complete independently. Your support has helped make our classroom more welcoming, organized, and engaging, and I am incredibly thankful that you chose to invest in my students.","fullyFundedDate":1786554974304,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-calm-space-for-exceptional-le/10358683/","projectTitle":"Building a Calm Space for Exceptional Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. England","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10541399"},{"teacherId":9993131,"projectId":9240733,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping my student get ahold of books that he loves! We practice repeating Hank's infamous sayings so he can practice his speech, as he struggles greatly to be understood. Having something he is interested in makes him more willing to repeat himself when he hasn't been understood.\r\n\r\nMy student is bed-bound so stories of familiar life (he lives out in the country next to farms and has a few dogs at home) helps him connect with the material while learning new things.
