I obtain broken bicycles from local police and pawn shops to fix in my classroom. Most of these students will never obtain a drivers license, but many of them can ride a bicycle. Learning a skill is a personal achievement. The students pick out the bicycle they would like to repair on the requested bike stands and at the end of the semester they can take it home, with the knowledge that they can maintain it with the skills and pride in knowing that they can ride their bikes and the freedom that goes with it.

About my class
