They loved having something to use that is exciting to them. Students really loved this and it has been a great improvement to our school.\r\nThese lights have helped students relax and stay calm. Its so amazing to watch students at play with the new items, baby doll accessories and Hot Wheel/car accessories. \r\n\r\nWith the baby dolls, students play to learn caring for others, and in dressing and undressing dolls many fine motor skills. With the Hot Wheels, student have learned to read instructions for assembly--an authentic use of their reading and use of visuals/diagrams skills. The first rock project we did was creating a welcoming rocks basket. Students in grades 2-4 who participated in a social skills group created rocks that would be stored in the social work office and used to help welcome new students to our school. The students in the small group thought about pictures or words that would be welcoming to a new student visiting the school social work office for the first time. Each student chose a different message or art work. Some painted hearts, others painted people being kind to one another. It was a very successful project. I plan to use the art supplies for many more similar projects in the near future. I greatly appreciate having the materials to do something so creative.\r\n\r\nTypically, I would be spending time in thrift stores or looking for art supplies on sale or clearance to use with my students. I greatly appreciated the supplies just getting delivered straight to my office.
