Cherokee Heights students live on the historically diverse and proud West Side of St. Paul, MN. We serve kids from age pre-kindergarten to 5th grade. Some of our students' families have lived in the neighborhood for generations. Most of the students come from homes where their parents or grandparents immigrated from another country and speak a different language at home. A large percentage of the families at Cherokee are living in low income homes or public housing. My students spend most of their school day in a special education classroom for kids with Autism or Developmental Disabilities. Our kids have a wide range of interests and will often work very hard on their academic and social tasks in order to play with special games or art materials.
