The new books and supplies have completely changed the way we read and learn together.\r\n\r\nThe classroom supplies—markers, crayons, pencils, folders, and so much more—have been incredibly helpful. My students use them daily for writing, drawing, labeling, and creating projects that connect to the stories we read. Having these tools easily accessible keeps our classroom running smoothly and lets students take pride in their work. You can truly feel the difference they make in our day-to-day learning.\r\n\r\nThese new stories help us practice all the big reading skills: sounding out words, making predictions, talking about characters' feelings, and connecting the stories to our own lives. Some books even help us learn about kindness, friendship, and being brave—skills that matter just as much as reading itself.\r\n\r\nOne book that's become a class favorite is The ABC's of Black History. My students absolutely light up when we read it! They love exploring each letter, learning about real heroes, and celebrating the beauty and strength of Black history. It's sparked some amazing conversations—even my youngest readers are asking thoughtful questions and making powerful connections.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom is pure joy! You'll see students snuggled up with books, partner-reading with giggles, using silly voices to act out characters, and proudly pointing to words they now recognize. Our reading corner has truly become the favorite spot in the room (well... maybe right after the snack table).\r\n\r\nA few students have really found their spark—one little reader who used to whisper through stories now reads out loud with confidence and flair! Another brings books from home to \"add to our library\" for the day because he's just that inspired.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students aren't just learning to read—they're learning to love reading. And that's the kind of gift that lasts a lifetime. 💛📖\r\n\r\nFrom all of us in Room 104, thank you for believing in our readers and helping our classroom shine a little brighter every day! 🌟","fullyFundedDate":1746804436076,"projectUrl":"project/new-school-supplies-for-all/9277349/","projectTitle":"New School Supplies for All!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Battle-Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9210664_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692652781725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9210664"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108794","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":276,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":79,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"19.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.0,"schoolId":108794,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Charter School of Inquiry on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Charter School of Inquiry","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-state-department-education/charter-school-of-inquiry/108794"}
