Because of you, my students now have access to engaging materials such as cars, puzzles, and books that are already making a meaningful difference in our speech and language therapy sessions.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThese materials are more than just fun activities — they are powerful tools that help students build critical communication skills. The cars encourage imaginative play, turn-taking, and language expansion as students practice requesting, commenting, and sequencing during play-based therapy. The puzzles support vocabulary development, problem-solving, attention, and expressive language while also strengthening fine-motor skills. The books provide opportunities to target comprehension, story structure, narrative skills, and social language in a way that keeps students motivated and excited to participate.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBecause these materials are hands-on and highly engaging, students are more willing to communicate, take risks, and practice skills that can often be challenging. At Young Woods Elementary, shelving is an essential need for organizing reading materials that will assist teachers in providing targeted small group reading instruction. Our school has received funding for K-5 Scholastic Bookroom which features over 6,000 culturally diverse books and lesson plans, differentiated by reading levels to help teachers enhance skills such as fluency, vocabulary and comprehension in readers of all levels. Thanks to your donations, we were able to sort and organize these resources in an efficient way on the shelving system that was purchased. Teachers have been better able to access the materials for student targeted instruction.\r\n\r\nOur students love to read and are deserving of the differentiated support these instructional materials can provide when organized and available for quick, easy access by their teachers. Due to the shelving system being put in place, easily accessed by teachers, students have been able to obtain differentiated support in their reading small groups. Their grades are sure to improve and their ability to access a wide range of books to support their learning has certainly been made easier.\r\n\r\nMoreover, since time is valuable for elementary educators, streamlining the process of accessing these resources has saved them precious time, allowing for more time to prepare and organize for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1742936005315,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-organized/9095961/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Organized!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Salisbury","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3277664_orig.jpg?crop=1378,1378,x0,y222&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597082959430","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3277664"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_67196","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":607,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":59.2,"schoolId":67196,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Young & Woods Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Young & Woods Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/rhode-island/providence-public-school-district/charlotte-woods-elementary-school/67196"}
