One of the other biggest impacts this project has had on our classroom is the lighting. We are in a room with no windows, and the overhead lights are not the most pleasant. While the entire school benefits from this project, there are a handful of determined high schoolers that make all of the magic happen. This group of scholars checked in daily to see if items arrived, scurried to the office for me when they did, and could not wait to get everything in place so we could have a thriving garden program.\r\n\r\nThe garden is becoming a place of pride for our school and community. We are sharing our produce and herbs with staff and faculty, and family members have commented on how nice it looks. One fellow teacher said, \"It actually looks like a garden out there!\" Several scholars tended the garden over the summer, and soon we will be harvesting melons for the first time.\r\n\r\nWithout your kindness and generosity, we would not have this beautiful, flourishing space in which to learn and grow.
