In this geometry lesson, students will be able to draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Students will apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems. Mathematically proficient students will observe the same x-coordinate of vertical segments and the same y-coordinate of horizontal segments. For example, a specific learning outcome/goal would be for students to "Plot a rectangle with a perimeter of 20. What are the coordinates?"
The black mesh wall file holders will be used to store the geometry materials such as, white boards with the coordinate plane, Expo markers, graph paper and pencils. These items will be used by my students daily during Geometry Instruction. The organization of the materials will be helpful to create a smooth process when using the materials. The posters will be used to create anchor charts around the room of the students' math facts and fluency.
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door!
