Your donations have made a meaningful difference in the daily learning experiences of my students, and I am truly grateful for your kindness and investment in their education.\r\n\r\nThe supplies you provided have already had a tremendous impact in our classroom. The individual whiteboards have become one of our most valuable learning tools during math lessons. Students use them to work through problems step-by-step and then hold up their answers for quick formative assessments. This allows me to immediately see which students understand the concepts and which students may need additional support or clarification. It has increased participation and confidence because every student has the opportunity to actively engage and share their thinking.\r\n\r\nThe calculators have also been incredibly helpful. They allow students to focus on deeper mathematical understanding and problem-solving strategies without becoming overwhelmed or discouraged by lengthy or complex calculations. Students are able to spend more time analyzing patterns, discussing reasoning, and applying concepts in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nOur magnetic coordinate materials have brought geometry concepts to life. Students used the magnetic XY coordinates to teach one another about the Pythagorean Theorem by plotting points, building right triangles, and visually exploring relationships between side lengths. Watching students collaborate and explain concepts to each other has been one of the highlights of our lessons.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the rulers have been essential during graphing activities. Students have used them to accurately graph lines, measure slopes, and create neat mathematical representations. Having quality tools available has helped students take pride in their work and strengthened their understanding of graphing concepts.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created opportunities for hands-on learning, collaboration, and deeper mathematical thinking in our classroom. Your contribution to our Donors choose project has made a real difference in my classroom, and I want you to know exactly what that means for my students.\r\nI teach a fully self-contained 8th grade autism classroom at Charles A. Silvestri Junior High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. My seven students are incredible young people who face unique challenges every single day — not just academically, but socially and functionally as well. They work hard. They show up. And they deserve every tool and resource we can put in their hands to help them succeed.\r\nThat HP printer you helped fund? It is already changing the way we do things in our room.\r\nBefore, so much of our classroom work was limited to screens and verbal instruction. My students with autism often benefit greatly from having physical, hands-on materials they can hold, mark up, reference, and take home. A printed worksheet, a visual schedule, a step-by-step task analysis — these are not just nice-to-haves for my kids. They are often the difference between a student understanding a concept and walking away frustrated. Visual supports are one of the most powerful instructional strategies in autism education, and having the ability to print them right in our classroom, on demand, is a game changer.\r\nNow when I design a lesson, I can print custom materials tailored specifically to each student's learning level. When a student is working on a life skills goal, I can print the steps with pictures so they can follow along independently. When we are preparing for a community outing or a job skills activity, I can print visual supports that help reduce anxiety and build confidence. When a student earns a reward or completes a milestone, I can print a certificate they can take home and show their family with pride.\r\nMy students' families work closely with our team, and being able to send home printed communication, progress updates, and learning materials strengthens that partnership in a way that a screen simply cannot replicate. Parents of students with autism tell me all the time how much it means to receive something tangible — something they can put on the refrigerator, point to, and say, \"Look what you did today.\"\r\nYou made that possible.\r\nYou did not have to invest in a classroom of students you have never met, in a school you may never visit, in a city far from home. But you did. And that act of generosity is felt every single day when my students walk through that door and I have exactly what I need to teach them well.\r\nOn behalf of my students, their families, and our entire team at Silvestri Junior High — thank you. Mahalo. From our classroom to yours, your kindness will not be forgotten.","fullyFundedDate":1768020097354,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-printer-request-for-self-conta/9988060/","projectTitle":"Classroom Printer Request for Self-Contained Autism Program","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Awong","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398264"},{"teacherId":3059529,"projectId":9994850,"letterContent":"Thank you for the whiteboards and markers. Self-Contained Autism students can learn concepts and skills taught in the general education classroom but often need a variety of supports (e.g., visual charts, hands-on tasks, etc.) and multiple opportunities to attempt the lessons and tasks given. With laminated sheets, my students are able to make multiple attempts at their tasks without making the process too complicated as they can independently wipe at their previous attempts and try again. Other students who need accommodations with different response methods due to cognitive and/or motor skill levels, can access the same/similar tasks by using velcro cards to demonstrate their answers. \r\nMy students also work on Social skills and building and/or strengthening their daily life skills. To give them a sense of responsibility and community, we teach them through social games and classroom tasks such as our end of day procedures. Through social games, students can collaborate and teach each other social skills in an engaging way.
