The Book Lovers are now more tolerant and understanding of someone's struggles. The book's format is in graphic novel form, which is amazing for my learners. They understood how much of a challenge it would be to receive a diagnosis such as the one the main character received. The students were able to empathize with the character and individuals with the same superpowers.\r\n Many of the students were amazed at how there are many different implements of hearing. They were able to learn about the Softband, cochlear implant, and picture boards. The Book Lovers wanted to be able to try all of these tools for themselves!\r\n Lastly, learning about individuals with hearing impairment has definitely broadened their knowledge of this subject. It's been so helpful to have a space that my students can jump, explore, bounce, roll, and tumble freely and safely. \r\n\r\nAt first some students were more hesitant and were unsure while others became familiar rather quickly. Regardless of initial reactions, all students have been having so much fun and getting out built up energy through the use of the cuddle box, which ultimately helps them receive the sensory feedback their bodies are craving. It has been so fun for me getting to observe my students experience the cuddle box. This has shown an improvement in their body regulation and awareness as a result.
