One component of this is phonics. The magic e wand helped my students learn to read CVCe words with a little extra magic. They especially love when they get to be the one to tap the board. In addition, having Decodable books available for the different phonics patterns gave books for all students to practice. Students need to touch and manipulate cards and play games to learn, practice, and reinforce many taught skills. These materials would not last beyond the first day without laminating them.
