This year I decided to change my classroom in a big way by converting to flexible seating. My students absolutely LOVE having a choice of how and where they sit each day as well as who they will sit next to. Everything is working wonderfully and I've noticed a huge difference in the attention span of my 2nd graders. There's only one problem... storage.
The Cubby Tower I am requesting will solve our issues with having a home for everyone's daily supplies. Currently, the students are using 4 different areas to store their daily supplies: seat sacks, writing boxes, shared cubbies, and mailboxes. Their pencil pouches are often lost among their storage choices and papers are put in the wrong places and need to be tracked down.
This lack of a single storage space also impacts how we display our work and conduct hands-on experiments. If we can designate a single space in the room for storage by using this Cubby Tower, we will have the ability to display more examples of their work and conduct experiments more efficiently.
My students will be so excited when they see their new storage space and feel honored by the love of our community.
