My students love to touch and explore every inch of our classroom! They use all their senses to learn and gain information from literally everything that they experience! Hands on is the preferred way for them to grow and develop, and we love to give them activities that keep them engaged all day long! While this is a wonderful way to learn, sometimes they are overstimulated and have difficulty with self regulation. Magnetic titles and building blocks are a good activity for calming sensory overload and helps with tactile defensiveness and social skills, as the children often create buildings cooperatively! We have some magnetic tiles already, but not enough for the entire class to build together. It's an activity that they love to pursue, especially after nap time. The tiles also develop fine motor skills needed for pencil grip and handwriting; developing important skills they will need for kindergarten and beyond!
