Every item has been truly appreciated and has made a real difference in our health office.\r\n\r\nTwo items that have really stood out are the digital otoscope and the color-coded first aid bag—both have been incredibly helpful in ways I didn't expect.\r\n\r\nNot only do students love seeing inside their own ears (they think it's the coolest thing), but it's also been super helpful with students who get nervous with medical exams. For kids who don't like having equipment put in their ears, I can hand them the otoscope and let them take the lead while we look at the screen together. That little change has made it possible for me to check students I might not have been able to examine otherwise.\r\n\r\nIt's also come in handy in unexpected ways. Just last month, a student came in after a classroom mishap with pain inside their nostril. We used the digital otoscope and spotted a small foreign object. The student could see it on the screen and immediately recognized what it was. Another time, I found a foreign object inside of a students ear.. I was able to quickly send a picture to our audiologist for the appropriate referral. Being able to actually see the issues and share what was being seen, made all the difference—we knew what we were dealing with and how to fix it right away.\r\n\r\nThe color-coded first aid bag has also been a total game-changer. If I'm not nearby and need a staff member to grab something, I just tell them the color of the pouch—easy! Everything is organized by type (burn, wound, bleed, ortho, etc.), so no digging around. It also helps me move quickly when I'm responding to a student. I just grab the pouch I need and go. It's made treating injuries faster and way less stressful for everyone.","fullyFundedDate":1721322625508,"projectUrl":"project/support-peace-of-mind-for-first-aid-and/8313577/","projectTitle":"Support Peace Of Mind For First Aid and Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nurse Rachel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9497898_orig.jpg?crop=1899,1899,x416,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720675159052","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/nurse-rachel-h"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56835","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":348,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":76,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":72.4,"schoolId":56835,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chaparral High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chaparral High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/chaparral-unifed-school-district-361/chaparral-high-school/56835"}
