They were shocked to see the snacks that they love the most. For many students, this made them feel seen, valued and cared for. At the same time, they had a difficult time grasping that people they don't even know gave their own money to support them! For some, this was the first time they experienced this type of altruism. \r\n\r\nThe snack closet is designed to be accessible without sacrificing dignity. Throughout the day students are welcome to stop in. The system is built on trust and independence as long as they do not disturb the learning environment. With these new resources, our classroom transformed into a supportive space where students didn't just study health—they built essential lifelong skills for mental well-being.\r\n\r\nThe interactive materials helped students learn how to name and identify their emotions with precision, moving beyond basic labels like \"mad\" or \"sad\" to understand deeper feelings like anxiety, frustration, or burnout. More importantly, they learned actionable self-regulation strategies to manage those heavy moments. From deep-breathing techniques and grounding exercises to reframing negative thought loops, students practiced real-world \"first aid\" steps to calm their minds and bodies when stress hits.\r\n\r\nSeeing the daily impact on my students has been incredible. They are already using these self-regulation tools during class, before taking big tests, and during difficult social moments.
