Your support directly enhances our learning environment and helps us meet the diverse needs of our classroom. The items you provided are not just supplies; they are tools that will help us build a safer, cleaner, and more engaging classroom experience.\r\n\r\nThe air purifier is invaluable, especially for students with respiratory sensitivities or allergies. This will help us maintain a healthier, more focused learning environment. Coupled with the cleaning supplies, we can ensure our classroom remains exceptionally clean, reducing illness and supporting student wellness.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, students love being able to care for their environment. Before the bell rings at the end of the day, students are asking to use the supplies to clean. They understand and appreciate a clean environment in which to learn. Many students have said that it makes them feel less stressed. \r\n\r\nThank you again for recognizing the unique needs of our special education students. Since introducing the micro:bits and using MakeCode.org, our classroom has come alive with hands‑on projects: students have built everything from simple smiley faces and interactive greeting cards to original games. They are even applying math concepts—such as solving linear equations—to attempt building a functioning calculator, which shows how the tool links coding, problem solving, and core curriculum. The devices have boosted student enthusiasm and motivation, helping learners see direct, real‑world applications of what they study while also giving me the chance to learn alongside them.\r\nThis gift opens many future opportunities for exploration and skill development that will help students discover interests that could guide their high school and college choices. Beyond technical skills, micro:bit projects are strengthening collaboration, creativity, and computational thinking in class. Being that they all live in a very urban city environment, the steep cost of the equipment, and the many financial difficulties these families face, the possibilities of them riding a bicycle is very limited. Some of my students expressed that it was their first time ever riding a bicycle. This information made me extremely excited and proud that, with the help of donors, I was able to offer them an opportunity to ride the Worksman Cycles Low Rider Recumbent Trike. Every single student in my classroom enjoys experiencing being able to independently ride a bicycle on their own or with some help. I am also able to provide this opportunity in a safe environment on our campus. The challenge now is creating a schedule where all 12 of my students can have some time to ride the one Worksman Cycles Recumbent Trike that we have. But this is a nice problem to have. The joy that is shown on their faces makes it all worthwhile. It also is apparent how much they all enjoy it by the fact that they frequently request time to ride it. I know for myself personally, riding a bike is therapeutic with physical benefits, so it brings a smile to my face when I hear, \"If we finish all our work on time, can we ride bicycle!\" Another benefit of riding the bicycle for my students is that it gets them physically active, moving, and exercising in a range of motion that may not be very common for some of them.","fullyFundedDate":1746786518884,"projectUrl":"project/ride-out/9139824/","projectTitle":"Ride Out!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Solomon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8975667_orig.jpg?crop=1449,1449,x0,y89&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729028055896","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8975667"},{"teacherId":8975667,"projectId":9381582,"letterContent":"With this awesome donation I was able to create a foundation of a Sensory Stimulation Room within my class, that all students can access as needed. I have numerous neuro-divergent learners who require a regular sensory schedule to be able to maintain appropriate behavior. I also have other learners who we are teaching to request access to the Sensory Room when they begin to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or agitated. From day one, it became apparent that I should have already had a space such as this to offer as an outlet for my neurodivergent learners. I feel it helps with stress reduction, allows them to develop greater focus, develops sensory and motor skills, can be used as motivation, and many offer therapeutic benefits. The Lakeshore Color-Changing Light Cube grabs the students attention as they walk in and it is randomly changing colors. They also notice the pulsating flashes of the JBL bluetooth PartyLight Stick as it vibes along to the rhythm of the music. The definite two favorites of all students who utilize the sensory room are the Homguava Bean Bag Chair, which is huge and comfortable for the students to lounge when they need a moment of relaxation, and the MJKCBD Sensory Spinning Chair which provides so much unique sensory stimulation, that one can't really get by their own doing. This kind donation is the start of me further developing a Sensory space for my students to utilize as needed. For the stained glass class, students created black frames with paper and then freely chose colors, cut clear plastic, and glued it to fill in the colors. To complete their artwork, students engaged in activities such as selecting colors, tracing lines with pens, cutting with scissors, and gluing. Despite it being their first time doing this activity, everyone concentrated and produced high-quality results.\r\n\r\nIn the rubber plate stamp class, students carved rubber plates to create Hawaiian flowers and traditional patterns. They then used these stamps to design Hawaiian shirts on paper according to their preferences. The students enjoyed using rollers to apply ink to the stamps and create patterns on the shirts.\r\n\r\nThe LEGOs were placed in individual containers so that students can build with them anytime during recess or free time. Most students had no prior experience following instructions to build. Therefore, they initially struggled with sequential assembly, but after a few practice sessions, they are now able to follow the steps to build the LEGOs.\r\n\r\nThe children felt proud of completing their artwork and showed that they were eager to show it to their families. We could feel their sense of accomplishment.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your donation, which enabled us to conduct classes using new tools.","fullyFundedDate":1742146758046,"projectUrl":"project/into-the-new-world-of-art/9171660/","projectTitle":"Into the New World of Art","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9805420"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_50824","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":354,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":22,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":48.5,"schoolId":50824,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Princess Ruth Ke'elikolani Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Princess Ruth Ke'elikolani Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/hawaii/honolulu-school-district/central-middle-school/50824"}
