Each student now has a personal reading bag that holds their book, reading log, sight word ring, and take-home fluency practice. What used to be loose papers crumpled in desks or lost between school and home is now organized and purposeful. One of my favorite moments happened during our independent reading time last week. A student who typically struggles to stay focused quietly pulled his book from his bag, smoothed it out, and said, \"This is my reading bag.\" There was ownership in his voice. That moment reminded me why resources like this matter.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the bags, they were thrilled. You would have thought it was the first day of school all over again. They immediately asked if they could decorate name tags for them and carefully placed their books inside. For many of them, having something that is truly theirs, something that makes them feel prepared and responsible, builds confidence in ways that are hard to measure but easy to see.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working hard on building reading fluency and strengthening sight word recognition. The next step is increasing independence. Students will begin tracking their nightly reading minutes and setting small personal fluency goals. The book bags are making this possible because materials can travel safely and consistently between school and home. We are also starting partner fluency practice in class, and students are excited to grab their bags and get started.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide supplies , it created structure, ownership, and pride in our classroom community. Thank you for giving my students the tools they need to grow as confident, capable readers. We are so grateful for your support and for the peek you've taken into our little classroom. It truly means the world to us.","fullyFundedDate":1761046234504,"projectUrl":"project/book-bags-for-2nd-graders/9724533/","projectTitle":"Book Bags for 2nd Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Legant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9931511_orig.png?crop=166,166,x0,y20&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743448019970","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9931511"},{"teacherId":9931511,"projectId":9596704,"letterContent":"The wobble stools have completely transformed our small group time! My students now have a comfortable and engaging way to move while staying focused during lessons. When they first saw the stools, their faces lit up with excitement and they couldn't wait to try them out. One memorable moment was during math small groups, when even my most restless learners were able to stay seated and participate for the entire session. The gentle movement helps them release energy while still paying attention. These stools have created a calm, focused learning space that supports every student's needs. As we continue working on reading fluency and math problem-solving, these seats help my students stay engaged and confident, making small group learning something they look forward to every day.","fullyFundedDate":1755840110857,"projectUrl":"project/focus-through-flexibility/9596704/","projectTitle":"Focus Through Flexibility","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Legant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9931511_orig.png?crop=166,166,x0,y20&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743448019970","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9931511"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_67623","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":581,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.9,"schoolId":67623,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/davison-community-school-district/central-elementary-school/67623"}
