My STEM students have really enjoyed having a class set of graphing calculators to use in class. As much as I love technology and the positive impact it can have on learning, my students get burned out from staring at computer screens all day. Having a class set of calculators allows them to complete classwork without having to rely on web based versions.\r\n The most exciting part of having these calculators in class is being able to alleviate the need for parents to purchase them but the students still get the same educational experience. This has greatly leveled the playing field in my class and made students without calculators not feel unduly burdened.","fullyFundedDate":1723682345647,"projectUrl":"project/stem-leaders-of-tomorrow/8443538/","projectTitle":"STEM Leaders of Tomorrow","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9564117"},{"teacherId":6781959,"projectId":7042248,"letterContent":"The tablets allowed the middle school robotics club to practice for competitions. I had over 30 members of the robotics team and it became difficult to keep all those middle school students busy. I was able to multitask with the added devices. I had some student whom had no interest in coding or operating the robots, they was only interested in building structures, mechanical parts, and testing what they created. Then there was another group who just wanted to operate the robots and figure out strategies. This was exciting for the students because they could all individually engage their creative spirits and express themselves equally. Caver, being primarily an high school generally had more social activities geared towards the high school, but the middle school found an engaging home at robotics.\r\n I remember how excited the students were when I presented all the new materials. I didn't expect so much excitement.","fullyFundedDate":1670262172334,"projectUrl":"project/eleven-robots-one-tablet-30-club-membe/7042248/","projectTitle":"Eleven Robots, One Tablet! 30 Club Members!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6781959_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1567128464099","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6781959"},{"teacherId":6781959,"projectId":7083322,"letterContent":"I had 30 plus students meeting twice per week to enjoy learning with the robots supplied by our donors. This created a happy safe place for the middle school students at Caver High School. Most of the school is geared towards high school students and my classroom become one of the hang outs for the middle school. \r\n\r\nThe students divided themselves in groups working on the various aspects of robotics that interest them. Some only wanted to code/program/operate. Some students wanted to figure out how to build different types of mechanisms to use to accomplish task. There was even a group that made sure that every leggo part was accounted for and not lost. All the groups shared information about what they was doing with one another to build a stronger team for the competition.
