When the packages started coming in the children got more and more excited. Each of these items are important to make learning to read fun. Everyone was begging to read with the pointers, play the sight word game, and use the tweezers to pick up different objects.\r\nFind motor is so hard for five-year-old children, and those tweezers have made practicing fun. The pointers have helped the students stay on the word that they are actually reading rather than getting ahead or behind with their fingers. I have never heard so much cheering going on when practicing sight words then when they were playing this game. We worked on writing shapes, writing numbers and upper and lower case letters. They kept saying this is so much fun. These boards teach them the correct placement of their tongues and teeth and will help them make each sound correctly. The students were so excited to have something they can be successful at. My top students loved the challenging stories and my beginner readers loved having things on their level. What a year for our Multiplication Pizza Party. Talk about motivation! The whole point of this grant is to get students motivated after the 2nd half of the year has started. It also helps the students who have memorized all of their facts review. I've written this grant for the last 5 years and we had the most students EVER pass ALL of their tests.\r\n\r\nOf course they loved their pizza, but the way they pondered over their chips led me to realize that even the prizes that I think of as \"small\" had big meaning to them.
