Your support has brought essential snacks and vital personal care items—including shampoo, deodorant, and toothpaste—directly into our school. For my severely and profoundly disabled high school students, these are not just everyday supplies; they are the fundamental building blocks of health, comfort, and independence.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, the atmosphere in my office was filled with pure excitement. Many of our students communicate their joy through bright smiles, enthusiastic vocalizations, and expressive clapping. As we opened the packages together and explored the new scents and colorful labels, their faces completely lit up. They were eager to touch and hold the new items. It was incredibly moving to see how validated and cared for they felt, knowing that these special items were chosen just for them.\r\n\r\nWe have already used these supplies last school year and students continue to come to my office this year when they need something. Last week, I made a hygiene kit for a young lady who is having difficulty getting clean in the mornings before school. She was delighted to have her own special bag. Additionally, having healthy, accessible snacks on hand has provides comfort and regulated energy levels for students who experience sensory overwhelm.\r\n\r\nThank you for peering into our school and recognizing the dignity and worth of our amazing students. The new books and cozy carpet have transformed our reading space into a welcoming literacy corner where students gather for read-alouds, shared reading, and independent exploration. One special moment was watching students settle onto the carpet, books in hand, fully engaged as they listened to a story and eagerly pointed out pictures, characters, and familiar words. The carpet has created a sense of community, while the books have opened the door to imagination, conversation, and a love of reading.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new books and carpet, their reactions were priceless. Their faces lit up with excitement, and many immediately asked if it was \"reading time.\" Students carefully chose books, sat together on the carpet, and showed genuine pride in their new reading space. For some, this was the first time they had experienced such a cozy and inviting place designed just for them, and it made reading feel special, fun, and comforting.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps include using this space daily to build literacy skills, listening comprehension, and communication. Students will continue exploring stories through guided lessons, interactive discussions, and independent book time, helping them strengthen vocabulary and a love for books. This project has not only enhanced our current lessons but has also created a lasting foundation for meaningful reading experiences. Thank you for helping us turn reading into an adventure that our students look forward to every day.","fullyFundedDate":1746482414671,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-reading-rainbow-to-life/9123062/","projectTitle":"Bringing Reading Rainbow to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9928057_orig.jpg?crop=399,399,x0,y90&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745434432437","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9928057"},{"teacherId":258539,"projectId":9616013,"letterContent":"You are so appreciated!
