Each day, students take on real responsibilities- feeding our guinea pigs, monitoring water conditions for our aquatic frogs, checking habitat temperatures for our leopard gecko, and even observing the development of our Atlantic salmon. One moment that stood out was a student who is typically very quiet stepping up to confidently teach others how to properly handle and care for the guinea pigs. It was such a powerful reminder of how meaningful hands-on learning can be.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were eager to explore everything- carefully opening supplies, asking thoughtful questions, and already discussing how to improve the animals' habitats. For many of them, this was the first time they felt trusted with something so important.\r\n\r\nNext, we are diving deeper into our salmon-raising project. Students will be tracking growth, testing water quality, and eventually preparing for the release process. They are beginning to connect their daily care routines to larger environmental concepts like conservation and ecosystem health.
