We are using the new glazes during our current pottery unit as students finish their hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramic pieces. One meaningful moment was watching students carefully test glaze combinations and discuss how color, texture, and firing can completely transform their work. For many students, this was their first time using a full range of glazes, and it allowed them to experiment and problem-solve like real ceramic artists.\r\nThe students were excited and genuinely amazed by the variety of glaze colors available. Several students immediately began planning how they wanted to layer or mix glazes to achieve certain effects. There was a noticeable sense of pride and ownership as they realized they were being trusted with professional-quality materials to elevate their artwork.\r\nNext, students will apply their glaze designs and reflect on their choices before their pieces are fired in the kiln. After firing, students will evaluate the final results, compare expectations versus outcomes, and discuss how glaze chemistry and technique impacted their work.
