My students were amazed when they saw the new equipment and wanted to test it out right away. They asked where I got it and that they were excited to try new things. \r\n With the money that was raised, I bought a variety of equipment such as soccer goals, gymnastics equipment, track and field equipment, bowling balls, basketballs, basketball hoops, and much more. I am so grateful for the money that was raised so we could get this. My Kindergarten and 1st graders will be able to make baskets in PE by the hoop being lower and the basketballs being lighter. My 4th and 5th graders can actually practice shot put and discus with the equipment bought. My 2nd and 3rd graders can practice their gymnastics and balancing with the balance beam and cartwheel mat that was bought. \r\n My next steps are to use more/all of the equipment and for the students to become as versed in different sports and activities as I can get them to be. PE is good for their health, relationships, and self-esteem. My students love to participate in lessons using our new resources. We are using our new Little Spot books and lessons in a small group setting, but I have seen a huge impact as student use what they have learned during our lessons throughout the day. They especially love using the Little Spot plushes to describe how they are feeling. The visual provided by the plushes has helped my students think and consider how they are feeling and also reminds them of our lesson. One student in particular has really developed more of an understanding of his emotions and is beginning to be able to describe those when prompted by the plushes/visuals. I couldn't have done it without each and every one of you. I have already begun to read the books I purchased to my students about the Guinea Pigs. The students were so excited to see what books I purchased with the funds. The Three Little Guinea Pig book was their all-time favorite! My school district was so excited to see all the packages arrive in my name at the office. There was an on going joke about it. \"Mr. Nott, you got another package in the office.\" That really made my day! \r\n\r\nThe students were even more excited when they would come into the classroom and see all the new packages that had arrived. They couldn't wait for me to open them. With your generous donations, I was able to purchase 2 brand new cages for my Guinea Pigs, books for my students, enough food to last me most of the school year, and treats to keep my Guinea Pigs happy. This will surely allow me to spend my funds elsewhere to have a more productive and exciting classroom.
