I now have 5th grade boys who are excited about reading. The old, tattered copy of \"How to Eat Fried Worms\" no longer has to be fought over. I am observing a whole new level of enthusiasm for reading with this class, and reading time is now one of their favorite times of our ELA hour together. I plan to use this book with 5th and 6th graders next year. \r\n\r\n \"How to Eat Fried Worms\" has increased student engagement, which is one key to learning. Engaged students absorb their material more quickly and have a greater capacity to work through challenges. \r\n Another important factor in teaching is relationship. Positive relationships are another key for students to be open to learning from a teacher, and fun experiences are super helpful in developing a positive atmosphere. Fun materials, such as \"How to Eat Fried Worms\" gives teachers the opportunity to laugh with students and continue to develop that good rapport.","fullyFundedDate":1772638371115,"projectUrl":"project/how-to-eat-fried-worms-middle-school-bo/10100206/","projectTitle":"How to Eat Fried Worms, Middle School Boys' Novel Pick!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Everett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5691205_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y579&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629749124392","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-zebolsky"},{"teacherId":8043854,"projectId":9065567,"letterContent":"The books that were provided for my classroom made it possible for students to enjoy what they were reading.
