Filled with wonderful pictures and facts, these books are frequented and enjoyed often. I encourage all scholars to reach for a book whenever they have a break in our instruction. I often find several kids huddled around the non fiction books, pouring over the photographs and exploring the text features. \r\n While not all students are ready to read chapter books, they have set goals to read the Ivy and Bean books as soon as they are ready. We have been using them a LOT because of the number of could days we have experienced. Indoor recess is not a boring experience (since there's no technology at that time) for my kiddos anymore! \r\n\r\nAnother big thing in our room is the need for wipes so thank you for the donation! We clean twice per day because 2 classes share the space and I really try to eliminate surface area germs as best as possible. The students were excited to see the variety of goodies we received. \r\nI also used the healthy snacks as rewards and incentives. We are a candy free school, and the healthy snacks motivated the students act improve their homework completion and effort in class. The variety of snacks made it possible for all students to be able to enjoy a treat no matter the dietary restriction. \r\nStudents don't always know when treats will be awarded. One thing that I like to do is reward special acts of kindness with a healthy snack. This has motivated my students to work better in teams and be more supportive of each other. She's treated like a baby and they take turns feeding her, talking to her, and holding her during test :).\r\n\r\nWhen students are feeling BIG emotions and they are in the \"red zone\" the deregulation corner is a place for them to reset and regroup so they can get back to focusing on their work.
